» When the object is mentally or concretely associated with a living body, either by its form and its texture or by its articulation with him, it would seem that it appropriates life. This is the main idea of the work of Patrick Veillet. Halfway between the fashion accessory used as generator of image (for Thierry Mugler, Chanel, Christian Lacroix… or the Opera of Paris] and the purely plastic object (backbone necklace made of self-enlightened mechanical glass), his « sculptures- à-porter » become a new means of expression in which the ornament, the jewel or the accessory unceasingly joined with the body would appropriate his aesthetic codes and would become independent with its own condition.
These « exomorphic » ornaments with oneiric and mutant forms are expressed with an obvious will of transformation using a plastic vocabulary borrowed from that of the supreme human Being, the animal or the plant. Today Patrick Veillet works with paleontologists with the aim of determining the virtual origins of some of his objects on the assumption of their belonging to a fantastic animal or vegetable species. »
